The new passes to the great Lisbon begin to be sold this Tuesday, March 26, at the ticket offices, vending machines and ATM network. With the new passes, there will be no more than two thousand passes in the metropolitan area of Lisbon, to only six.
1 – How many passes do they exist?
The Navegante Metropolitano pass costs 10 euros and will allow to circulate in the 18 municipalities of the metropolitan area of Lisbon. The Navegante Municipal pass will cost 30 euros and will allow users to use all transport within one of AML's 18 municipalities. In addition to these two passes, there are two other modalities: the Navigator 12, which is intended for children up to and including 12 years and which is free; the Navegante 65, for those over 65, retired and pensioners, with a cost of 20 euros.
2 – Can I use my Lisboa Viva card? And where do I carry them?
Yes. To get access to the new passes you do not need to get a new card. Just go to a ticket office, cash machine or vending machines and load the new pass.
3 – Can I start using my new pass today?
No. Although the shipments can be made from this Tuesday, March 26, the new passes can only begin to be used from April 1, ending its validity on April 30.
4- Are my children entitled to this pass?
Yes, the household can enjoy the Metropolitan or Municipal Family Navigator, with a maximum price of 80 euros per month (only from June). To do this, they must have "proven residence in one of the 18 municipalities of the metropolitan area of Lisbon and that are registered in the finance or social security as members of the same household."
5 – My grandparents live with me. Are they entitled to the family pass?
Yes. Both passes can be charged by all household members. To do this, it is necessary to "have a proven residence in one of the 18 municipalities of the metropolitan area of Lisbon and that are registered in the finances or social security as members of the same household".
6- I live outside the metropolitan area of Lisbon. Am I entitled to these passes?
Yes. To enjoy these passes, you only need to be a holder of the Lisboa Viva card.
7 – Being a resident outside the metropolitan area of Lisbon, are my children entitled to the family version of the pass?
No, both the Metropolitan Family Navigator and the Municipal Family are unique to families with proven residency in one of AML's 18 municipalities. The reason for this is that the passes are partly funded by these 18 counties.
8 – I am a foreigner living in the Lisbon area. Am I entitled to these passes?
Yes. There are "no residency requirements in obtaining it," explains AML.
9 – Can I continue to buy the pass on the 15th, as I usually do?
No. The Navigator passes will be fixed month passes, that is, they will be valid from the first to the last day of the respective month.
10 – Will my pass end on April 15? How do I do it?
The solution to these issues is the Navegação 7 Dias Abril pass. This temporary pass is valid for 7 days and is valid on all scheduled public passenger transport services in all 18 municipalities in the Lisbon metropolitan area.
This pass will cost 10 euros and can be charged three times. To purchase this pass you will need to have previously purchased a 30 day sliding pass. This pass will only be valid from April 8 until April 30. Its validity expires on May 6.
