Festival of the Italian Cinema, from April 5 in more than 15 cities.
There will be more than 60 films, six of them in national anthem, including works by the best known Italian filmmakers, good discoveries of new directors, great box office hits, critically acclaimed films or international festival awards, not forgetting the great Italian classics.
In a national anthem, the edition opens in Lisbon with the last work of Paolo Virzì, "Notti magiche" ("Magical Nights") – comedy about three young writers and about the passage that Italian cinema lived in the beginning of the '90s when time of the great masters was coming to an end, and a new wave of authors, still without much experience, received this heavy responsibility.
"Euforia", by Valeria Golino, – a film presented at the last festival in Cannes – is the face of closing a sensitive reflection on the love and respect between two brothers as different as coming in the adversities of life.
From the Special Sessions come films like "The Man Who Stole Banksy", of Marco Proserpio – that is one of the guests of this Party. The cycle "The Great Art in the Cinema" also marks the presence, with films about the life of artists like Michelangelo, Tintoretto and Leonardo Da Vinci.
There is also a new section, "Make Italy Great Again – Italy is not a racist country" – a special section dedicated to films that portray how in Italy, despite an adverse political and social climate, there are still people and movements struggling to make this country a welcoming land for anyone who needs it and is looking for a safe haven.
The Festival of Italian Cinema is a festival that celebrates Italian cinema as well as Italian culture and gastronomy with exhibitions, video-installations, parties, Cine-Jantar and Flavor Route, where several Italian restaurants in Lisbon join the festival , with menus and special offers.
