The 17th edition of the Berbigão Festival takes place on the weekend of September 14 and 15 at the Polidesportivo da Figueira, between 19h00 and 01h00, and promises, once again, to bring thousands of people to this locality of Mexilhoeira Grande, in Portimão
This event expects to receive about six thousand visitors on both days of celebration and returns to delight the residents and tourists as a gastronomic event, par excellence, where cockles are made in various ways: cockle pasta, cockle rice, Cockle porridge, cockle patties and of course natural cockle are some of the proposals.
This gastronomic festival bets on dishes made with cockles, but visitors can also delight in other equally appreciated bivalves: the oysters made locally. Local sweets and pastries are also available, as well as other foods and drinks, all at very attractive prices.
The festival venue has a capacity of about 600 seats and about one and a half tons of cockles will be prepared to delight more than 5,000 people looking for one of the most genuine and tasty dishes of regional cuisine. This tasty bivalve traditionally made in a simple way comes in this event in various forms, always based on a little olive oil, a bunch of parsley or coriander and a clove of garlic.
