The final of the 5th edition of the national competition that seeks the best application created by young people to solve social problems brings together 22 teams of students at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. The Apps for Good event takes place this Tuesday, September 13th, after the four regional meetings that took place between June and July in the Azores, Valongo, Oeiras and Madeira.
After 150 students participating in this competition, the selected teams will now demonstrate the work done throughout the school year by presenting applications that solve real problems.
A total of 10 prizes will be awarded, since in addition to the podium, the Young Aluna.pt Prize, sponsored by .PT, the Technological Prize, sponsored by Fujitsu, the Audience Prize and the Cooler Planet Prize will also be delivered. , sponsored by BNP Paribas. This time, the awards go to solutions presented to improve the environment, explains the organization in a statement.
Among the apps that will discuss the grand finale are Color You, which aims to integrate the color-blind person and facilitate their daily lives and SOS Animals, which makes it easy to locate and identify lost animals.
Launched by CDI Portugal, the educational program aims to seduce young people, between 10 and 18 years old, and teachers to use technology as a way to solve their problems, proposing a new more intuitive, collaborative and practical educational model.
