The date Estoril BeachArouca opens today the 2020/21 edition of 2nd league of football, which returns six months and one day after the last meeting of the last championship, which did not come to an end due to the covid-19 pandemic.

The game between Estoril Praia and Arouca is scheduled for 20H00 and will open the first day of the competition, which will run until Monday, on a day that is still marked by the debut of a woman in the refereeing team in professional league games of soccer.

The referee Vanessa Gomes, from the Lisbon Football Association, will thus debut in professional games, being assistant to referee João Malheiro Pinto.

The 2nd League was suspended indefinitely on March 9th and, on April 30th, did not receive a “green light” from the Government to proceed, being considered as finished. Although there is still no audience in the stands, the games of the 2nd League will return, following the example of the first, which resumed and concluded the previous championship.

It should be noted that Académica / OAF plays on Saturday morning (11 am), at Estádio do Fontelo, in front of the Academico de Viseu.
