ANACOM data show that at the end of the first half of this year the number of subscribers to package services reached 3.8 million, 5.2% more than in 2017. 4P and 5P offers the fastest growing offerings.
Subscribing to package services – in aggregate sets that bring together the internet, TV, phone and mobile phone but also mobile internet – remains the preferred model for Portuguese users. In the first half of 2018 we registered 189 thousand subscribers of these services, an increase of 5.2% to 3.8 million, Anacom said in the data released today.
The large majority of Portuguese families (92.7 out of 100) opt for packaged services, which according to ComparaJa's analysis for SAPO TEK are always more advantageous than the signature of individual services. Subscribe to a 5P package by yourself to ensure a savings of 97 euros per year.
According to the communications regulator, the growth was mainly due to offers with 4 or 5 services (4 / 5P – landline, fixed broadband, pay television, mobile phone and mobile internet), which grew by 7.3% due to the 117 thousand subscribers and, to a lesser extent, 3 services (telephone and fixed internet and pay television), which increased by 6.3% or 93 thousand customers.
This growth was also made at the expense of 2P offers, which lost 21 thousand customers, which translated into a fall of 4.1% in this area.
In terms of consumer preference, 4/5P offers continued to be the most used in the first half of 2018, with 1.7 million subscribers representing 45.3% of total customers. The 3P offer, with 1.6 million subscribers, accounted for 41.7% of total customers.
Regarding packaged service revenues, ANACOM reveals that it reached around 786 million euros at the end of June. The 4 / 5P offerings accounted for 60% of package revenues, followed by 3P packages, with 32.9% of operators' revenues. On average, the monthly revenue per package subscriber, which includes residential and non-residential customers, was 34.62 euros, not including VAT. In the case of the most used offers (4 / 5P), the average monthly invoice reached 46.12 euros.
In the first half of 2018, MEO was the provider with the largest share of package subscribers (40.5%), followed by the NOS Group (37.7%), Vodafone (17.3%) and Grupo Apax – Cabovisão and Oni (4.5%). The MEO was the leader in the various types of offer, confirms ANACOM.
