The Sports Office of the Academic Association of the University of Algarve (AAUAlg) will promote, in April, the 5th edition of the "Physical Activity + Nutrition = Wellness" initiative.

Held in partnership with the services of Social Action of UAlg, the initiative includes screening actions, practices and advice in the field of physical activity and nutrition. The activities, open to the whole community, will take place on the "campuses" of the University of Algarve.

From April 2 to 11, with the objective of raising awareness and promoting healthy lifestyles among the young population and academic community, the action proposes a set of screenings and counseling, namely evaluation and technical advice directed at the beginning or maintenance of a regular physical activity practice; body evaluation, analyzing various parameters such as: weight, percentage of fat, lean body mass and water, rest caloric expenditure, metabolic age, visceral fat and body perimeters; sexual and reproductive health counseling; and glycemia, total cholesterol, blood pressure, HIV and vision screening.

This initiative will also have several complementary events, namely a "show cooking", under the motto of healthy snacks, on April 3, at 5:30 p.m., on the Penha campus (free but mandatory registration); lectures on healthy eating, on days 4 and 11, on the Penha and Gambelas campuses, respectively; the "Let's wind up our shoes" walk on the 7th; and classes and seminars of kiryu, on days 13 and 14, in Penha and Gambelas, respectively.

This initiative also has the support of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ), within the framework of the "Care for yourself" program and is framed in the set of activities to promote the Rector's strategy for a Healthy UALG, reinforcing the importance of prevention and promotion of active and healthy living habits.
