THE Academic won the CD Póvoa, 77-82, in the second duel of clearance ascent to Professional League in Basketballl. After the triumph in the first game played in Coimbra, by 84-72, the students again beat the group from Coimbra, this time with a margin of five points, 77-82.
In total, Académica guarantees qualification for the main echelon of Portuguese men's basketball with a margin of 17 points. In the challenge played this Sunday at the CD Póvoa Pavilion, the American Malcom Richardson was the most prominent element in Ivo Rego's class, ending the challenge with 21 points, nine rebounds and five assists (MVP quotation of 27). The MVP of the challenge was CD Póvoa player Mark Mathews, who finished with 23 points, eight rebounds, six assists (total of 28.5 MVP quotations).
Ivo Rego, who trains the students for the fourth season, is thus able to lead the team in rising to the Professional League. The first game in the Liga Placard will be at home, against FC Porto (scheduled for October 10).
