Académica will travel, next Saturday (16H00), to CAB Madeira, in the match of round 22 of the Portuguese Basketball League. A meeting “clearly of extreme importance for us”, assumes Ivo Rego, student training coach, speaking to DIÁRIO AS BEIRAS.
In the preview of the match to be played at Pavilhão Amigos do Basquete, the coach reinforces the elevation of this result, against a direct opponent in the fight for a place in the play-off. Ivo Rego says that this is a “fundamental game for the final accounts of the championship”, at a time when there are still five matches to play. The coach believes that "the balance will remain until the end", but foresees "difficult games" on the academic horizon.
For Ivo Rego the meeting with the islanders "is very important, as were the two last weekend", he stressed, minutes after the training held by the team yesterday morning.
According to the official, from a physical point of view, Daniel Relvão is recovering well from the last double commitment of the team, but it is the post Stefan Djukic “that worries the most”. Recovering from a surgical intervention by hand, the Serbian player is in doubt for the next round, corresponding to the wishes of the technicians responsible for the academy emblem: “I would like to use it when traveling to Madeira”, confessed Ivo Rego, finishing.
It is recalled that, in the 1st round of the championship, Académica received and won the Madeirans (77-68).
At this time, students occupy the 8th position of the league table of the Portuguese Basketball League, ahead of CAB Madeira (9th) – both teams have the same 21 points.
