The Basketball Section of Academic defeated tonight, in a game played without an audience at the Mário Mexia Multisport Pavilion, in Coimbra, the CD Póvoa, 84-72, in the first match of the ascent to the Professional Basketball League ( Liga Placard).
The students, under the baton of Ivo Rego, reached the interval to win by 38-29, having ended the challenge with a victory by a margin of 12 points, 84-72. Coimbra's team is thus ahead of the tie and will play the second qualifying game this Sunday (15H00), in Póvoa de Varzim, in the CD Póvoa pavilion (game also without an audience), from 15H00, in a duel that can be accompanied on television by the Portuguese Basketball Federation (FPB), FPB TV.
