The event aims to sensitize the medical class to the importance of physical exercise as a transversal constituent in prevention and treatment strategies.
The conference, which will take place on November 17 in Lisbon, will address several topics such as: What is the role of the doctor / medical institutions in the National Program for the Promotion of Physical Activity? How can clinical practice be compatible with a sporting competition at a high competition level? What are the new scientific evidences in physical exercise for the loss of fat mass or in the prepartum period? How will it be an effective cross-referencing between physicians and exercise professionals?
Physicians will also have to work hard to experience a weight-training or Nordic walking class. The goal is to promote physical exercise habits in the daily routine of doctors and medical students, as well as their "prescription" in clinical practice.
The seminars are attended by specialists in Medicine and Exercise, such as Dr. Henrique Martins, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Shared Services of the Ministry of Health, and Prof. Dr. Rodrigo Ruivo, author of the Manual of Evaluation and Prescription of Physical Exercise.
There will also be a special mention during the conference of the Pioneer Course of Physical Counseling for Physicians.
The organization of the event is from Clínica das Conchas and has the support of European Lifestyle Medicine Organization and of the Student Associations of the Medical Faculties of Lisbon and of the Universidade Lusófona.
