AFA and clubs prepare to start senior competitions, youth teams wait for the beginning of the school year


The Algarve Football Association (AFA) met on Tuesday, by videoconference, with the clubs participating in the senior district competitions, with the aim of preparing the start of the 2020/2021 season competitions.

In the two sessions, dedicated to football and futsal, dozens of sports agents representing almost all clubs with senior teams participated and topics such as the calendar of events for this season and the Covid-19 regulation for the resumption of competitive practice were discussed. .

Regarding the rules for the training and competition context of the training levels, it was informed that there will be “new reflection on the part of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) and the Portuguese Football Federation after the beginning of the new school year”.

AFA recognized the “delicate” moment that Portuguese society is still going through and praised the clubs' behavior.

“We are grateful for the constructive attitude shown once again, as well as for the enormous respect in complying with the standards recommended by the DGS”, underlines the association led by Reinaldo Teixeira, proud of the “civic and responsible attitude” of the clubs.

"Despite the enormous desire to return to training and competing, even with a greater number of athletes and teams registered compared to the previous season, they have always put the health of athletes, managers and others involved in first place", highlighted the AFA .

AFA remains committed “to find solutions that make life easier for clubs and that allow them to continue to dynamize the modalities in the Algarve, always in constant monitoring of the evolution of the epidemiological situation in the country and in the region”.
