The Algarve Football Association (AFA) today congratulated Portimonense for the “deserved stay” in the I League, after the Arbitration Court for Sport (TAD) rejected the precautionary measure presented by Vitória de Setúbal.
"The so just and desired continuity in the main Portuguese football championship is the crowning effort and devotion of all those who, with seriousness, humility and ambition, have contributed to the success of the Algarve emblem in recent seasons", he stresses, in a statement , the association led by Reinaldo Teixeira.
Vitória de Setúbal was relegated by Liga Portugal, after failing financial assumptions in the licensing phase in professional competitions, with Portimonense, who had descended on the field to II Liga, been invited to take his place.
“This is yet another source of pride for the entire Algarve region, which will have the opportunity to see the recently promoted Sporting Clube Farense – Algarve Futebol SAD playing in the League together with the Portimão club, something that has not happened for 32 years ”, Adds the AFA, wishing its two affiliates“ the greatest happiness and sporting successes in the future seasons ”.
On the other hand, the AFA also regretted the decision, “unwanted”, of TAD to dismiss the appeal presented by Sporting Clube Olhanense – Futebol SAD, which sought to annul the decision of the Portuguese Football Federation to promote Vizela and Arouca to the II Liga .
“Within the ethical principles and values that guide us, we are totally in solidarity with our affiliated club and we will always be by your side in this difficult time, after having been denied the possibility of ascending to the II League, despite having been first classified in Series D of the Portuguese Championship at the time it ended ”, concludes the AFA.
