The Afro Nation Portugal Festival, scheduled for July 17, 18 and 19, at Praia da Rocha, in Portimão, was postponed to July 1, 2 and 3, 2021, with reinforcement of the poster, the promoters announced today.
According to the Lusa agency, in a statement, the organization claims to be following “the Portuguese government directive of May 7 that prohibits large-scale events in the country until September 30” due to the covid-19 pandemic, revealing that “all tickets purchased for 2020 remain valid for the new dates ”.
The promoters also open the possibility for customers to “if they wish, they can offer their tickets for sale through an official resale platform”.
In addition to the headliners announced for 2020 as “Wizkid, Beenie Man, French Montana, Tory Lanez, Diamond Platinumz and Chronixx”, in 2021 the festival will also feature “Burna Boy, Davido, Skepta, Yemi Alade and Mavado”.
In the same note, the Mayor of Portimão, Isilda Gomes, quoted by Lusa, says she is in solidarity “with the decision to postpone this great event”, guaranteeing to share with the organization “the demand not only in the quality of events” provided to county visitors “as well as their security”.
The Afro Nation Portugal Festival took place for the first time in 2019, at Praia da Rocha, in Portimão, welcoming more than 25,000 people mainly from the United Kingdom.
