The general meeting of shareholders of Águas do Algarve approved the 2019 Annual Report and Accounts at the meeting held on June 19, at the premises of the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission.
Several points were discussed and approved, namely the Management Report and Accounts for 2019 and the approval of the PAO – Plan of Activities and Budget of Águas do Algarve for the year 2020.
The company's business plan for 2020 has a turnover (water plus sanitation) of 60,750,231 euros.
Águas do Algarve is the managing entity responsible for the multi-municipal water supply and sanitation system in the Algarve, integrating the 16 municipalities in the region and a covered population of 450 thousand inhabitants in low season and close to one and a half million in high season.
The company's “Sustainability Strategy” for the period 2016-2020 includes six major principles and 20 commitments, covering topics such as the conservation of water bodies and biodiversity, adaptation to climate change, the development of a responsible local economy, the valuing the relationship with employees and a growing approach to the community, among others.
