Al Sadd, the leader of the Qatar championship and trained by Portugal's Jesualdo Ferreira, secured a place in the last 16 of the Asian Champions League with a 2-1 victory over Al Ahli.
In Doha, at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, they scored for the Ali Assadalla home team in the ninth minute and Akram Afif in the 12th. Al Ahli's best move was to reduce Omar Al Somah's penalty by 51.
The result retains the team of Jesualdo Ferreira, in which pontificate the Spaniards Xavi and Gabi, in front of Group D of the competition, not being able to already fall out of the two places of qualification.
With this victory, Al Sadd leaves the fifth and penultimate round of Group D with 10 points and can only be overtaken by Pakhrator of Uzbekistan, who have eight, after beating Iran's Persepolis 1-0.
