The Municipality of Albergaria-a-Velha will invest 68,457 euros in the rehabilitation of six social housing units, with the aim of ensuring greater energy efficiency and, consequently, their better habitability.
The works will benefit the 12 resident people, with an execution period of four months. The intervention in the houses includes the thermal insulation of the exterior walls and the roof (roof), as well as the replacement of wooden frames with PVC structures with thermal cut. Solar panels will be applied for water heating and a new sanitation network will be executed.
Around the houses, the City Council will also make some exterior arrangements, such as the creation of sidewalks and access steps.
Over the past few years, the Municipality of Albergaria-a-Velha has implemented several measures that promote in the area of energy efficiency, among which the placing of production units for self-consumption of electricity in municipal buildings, the introduction of LED technology in the public lighting in the city center, the installation of flow reducers and LED lamps in the various facilities in the municipality and the placement of an isothermal cover in the municipal swimming pool of Branca. In terms of mobility, the City Council has also invested in the purchase of electric vehicles for its automobile fleet.
