Albufeira changes dates and times

As a result of having entered the list of new municipalities with a high risk of contamination by covid19, the
the municipality of Albufeira was "obliged to change times and days of shows taking place in the Municipal Auditorium, in order to respond effectively to the most restrictive measures currently in force, namely with regard to curfews".

The ACTA show, next Friday, will take place half an hour earlier than originally planned, while the Workshop “Cante Alentejano” and the concert by Celina da Piedade were brought forward to November 26, at 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm, respectively.

Thus, “Ardente – Memorial for Pedro and Inês”, the show by ACTA – The Companhia de Teatro do Algarve, scheduled for the next 20th (Friday), was brought forward half an hour, and is now scheduled for 21:00.
Tickets cost € 5.00 and are on sale at the Municipal Gallery of Albufeira, on weekdays from 10 am to 12:30 pm and from
1:30 pm to 5:00 pm, or in the Municipal Auditorium, on the same day of the show from 7:30 pm to 8:45 pm.

Also the project “Central Artes – Cultural Programming in Network”, a joint initiative of five municipalities in the Central Algarve (Loulé, Albufeira, Faro, Olhão and Tavira), following the application made to CRESC Algarve 2020 (Regional Operational Program of the Algarve) , had to adapt to the current circumstances.

The two sessions of the “Pinto-me dancing” Workshop, announced for the 25th of November, were canceled, and the rest of the program, a Cante Alentejano Workshop and a concert, both under the responsibility of Celina da Piedade, were anticipated for November 26th (Thursday).

The Cante Alentejano Workshop, for over 17 years old and maximum capacity for 10 people, takes place at the João Bailote Municipal Gallery, between 6 pm and 7:30 pm. On the same day, at 9 pm, Celina takes to the Albufeira Municipal Auditorium a concert, in trio format: Celina da Piedade (voice and accordion), Sofia Neide (double bass and voice) and Filipa Ribeiro (percussions and voice).

Cante Alentejano is a polyphonic vocal practice in the south of Portugal, recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2014. It has always served as a vehicle of expression for a strong social conscience. At the same time, it is a practice that, due to its collective and voluntary character, helps to keep alive, within the communities in which it operates, the notion that cohesion (of all voices) is essential to the maintenance of the social fabric .
