The Alcoutim City Council approved a series of measures at the last meeting of the executive, on September 9, within the scope of the policy to support children and young people and their families in matters of school social action.
“Considering that the expenses with books and school supplies represent the expenditure of a significant amount of the family budget”, a proposal was approved that provides for individual financial support in the amount of 90 euros to all students of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles, in the amount of 100 euros to all students attending secondary education and vocational education and in the amount of 300 euros to all students attending a CET (Technological Specialization Course) or a CTSP (Higher Technical Course) Professional).
As a collective, it was approved to grant an economic aid in the amount of 1,000 euros to all students of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle.
In the same proposal, considering the socioeconomic characteristics of the municipality that demonstrate the low purchasing power of resident families, the payment of lunch for all children attending daycare centers and schools in the municipality was approved in terms of food. attend the nursery, day care, pre-school, ATL, 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles.
The lunches of children who attend the nursery, day care center, pre-school and ATL are extended to the period of school holidays. Children attending the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles will be paid the amount not reimbursed by the Ministry of Education.
At the same meeting, the council also decided to open a call for the award of 40 scholarships «Dr. João Dias », with a monthly value of 100 euros, to be allocated over a period of ten months (October to July).
The scholarships are intended for students residing in the municipality who attend higher education courses, undergraduate or master's degrees, in public or private establishments, in the academic year 2020/2021.
To apply, students must subscribe to an individual application form (provided by the municipal services or available for download on the Municipality website) and accompany it with the documents defined in the respective Regulation.
