Alcoutim students are exempt from paying for school transport


The Alcoutim Chamber approved, at the last meeting of the executive, on September 9, a proposal for exemption from payment for school transportation for students studying outside the municipality.

The plan is aimed at Alcoutenejos students who attend secondary schools in Tavira, Vila Real de Santo António, Mértola, Alsud and the Vila Real de Santo António Hotel School, for the 2020/2021 academic year.

A school transport plan was also organized, combining and complementing the public transport network, according to the demand effectively verified in each school year, where it was defined that the municipality will transport all children from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles and will support the full amount of passes required in the municipality by students of secondary education and professional education who come to attend schools outside the municipality of Alcoutim.

The transport plan provides for eight circuits for pre-school and basic education that total 711 km / day and a total cost / year of 125,777.37 euros is expected.

For secondary education, eight circuits are also planned: four are carried out in local authority vehicles (275 km / day with a total cost / year of 46,338.80 euros) and the remaining four circuits are carried out by public transport routes of EVA Transportes and they are destined for the Secondary Schools of Mértola, Tavira and Vila Real de Santo António, with a total cost / year of 38,764.15 euros.
