The Portuguese Olympic Committee (COP) received yesterday, Tuesday, cyclists Daniela Campos, João Almeida and Ruben Guerreiro, who recently achieved relevant international results.
Remember, the Daniela Campos from the Algarve, native of Boliqueime (Loulé), won three medals in the Junior European Championship of track cycling, in Fiorenzuola d'Arda, Italy: elimination gold, points silver and omnium bronze.
João Almeida wore the pink jersey of the leader of the Volta a Itália for 15 days and was ranked 4th, while Ruben Guerreiro won the mountain prize of the same event.
The president of the Portuguese Cycling Federation (FPC), Delmino Pereira – accompanied by the national road coach, José Poeira – considered, during the ceremony held at the COP, that 2020 was “the best year ever” for the sport, in Portugal, with “winning 16 medals in European championships and World championships”.
The cyclists stressed that they were “very proud” to be present at the COP and stated the objective of coming to participate in the Olympic Games.
