Algarve Football Association wins White Card Revelation Award

The Algarve Football Association (AFA) won, at national level, the Revelation White Card Award for the 2019/2020 sports season, recognizing its importance in sports.

The distinction, awarded by the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ), through the National Plan for Ethics in Sport (PNED), and by the Confederation of Associations of Judges and Referees of Portugal (CAJAP), rewards the fair-play of the football and futsal sport agents in the Algarve in the year of the debut of the white card in the region's fields.

The White Card Awards aim to recognize the importance of using the white card in sports and are awarded annually in three categories: White Card Award – Entities, White Card Award – Referees and White Card Revelation Award.

The white card is a pioneering educational resource in Portugal, implemented since 2015 by the IPDJ, within the scope of the intervention and pursuit of the objectives of the PNED, in partnership with CAJAP, which aims to promote values in sports, through the recognition of ethically relevant to athletes, coaches, officials and other sports agents.

The White Card – Entities Prize was awarded to the Aveiro Football Association and the Évora Football Association. The White Card – Referees Prize was awarded to Alexsander Ramos Esteves, Trás-os-Montes Volleyball Association, Renato Jorge Lopes Pereira and Lisbon Football Association. In addition to the AFA, the White Card Revelation Award was also awarded to the Braga Golf Club.
