Applications approved by the Regional Operational Program for the Algarve, to improve school infrastructure, will allow municipalities in the region to invest 34 million euros in investment in 28 schools.
In effect, the Regional Operational Program of the Algarve – CRESC Algarve 2020 approved 27 million euros of eligible investment in the requalification and construction of schools, with an estimated support of 18.6 million euros in European funds managed by the Regional PO, mainly in execution in the years 2021 and 2022, from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), announced the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR).
Investments in requalification, reconstruction, removal of asbestos cement and equipping of basic education establishments of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and secondary cycles are planned, resizing and modernizing them, creating conditions for the use of computers and activities and improving their functional, environmental and thermal / acoustic comfort conditions.
"This improvement in the quality of educational equipment and the skills made available to students and teachers are a success factor of the educational path, qualifying learning with a relevant impact in reducing school dropout and combating social and territorial inequalities", stresses the CCDR.
The requalification of schools is part of Investment Priority 10.5 – Investment in education, training, vocational training and skills and lifelong learning through the development of training and teaching infrastructures on Axis 7 – Strengthening skills.
