The Algarve skater Diogo Marreiros was crowned today, Monday, 26th, European runner-up of speed skating, in the 10,000 meters points / elimination of male seniors, with the same number of points of the 1st place.
On the opening day of the 2019 European Speed Skating Championships, which take place in the Spanish city of Pamplona, the Roller Lagos runner scored 14 points, equal to European champion Daniel Niero.
In an extremely fast race – 14.05 minutes to the first, at an average of 42.6 km / h -, Marreiros always led the score, but the Italian's three final points removed the Lacobrigense European title.
Still in the same race, Miguel Bravo, from Roller Lagos, was 12th and David Pedro, from GD Lagoa, 17th.
As for the other Algarvian skaters who are present in the European speed skating, Manuel Martins (GD Lagoa), the best of the three Portuguese in the 10.000 meters / junior elimination event, finished in 6th place.
In the senior women's category, Andreia Canha and Carolina Ferreira, both from GD Lagoa, were 7th and 17th in the 10,000 meters points / elimination race.
