Associação Almargem starts this March with the training program “Prepare Monchique for the Walking product”, dedicated to companies in the tourism sector with an impact in Monchique. These actions are free for the participants and intend to qualify accommodation units and tourist entertainment companies, with headquarters or activity in the municipality of Monchique, for the walking product, one of the expanding nature tourism segments.
Almargem, as the managing entity of the Grande Pedestrian Route GR13 – Via Algarviana and a network of complementary walking routes implemented in this territory, intends to “contribute, with these training actions, to the positioning of Monchique as a destination of excellence for tourism in Walking, recognizing the reality of international audiences with great demand for this tourist segment, more specifically the markets of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium ».
The actions are divided into two stages: in a first stage, the participants have access to online information sessions, oriented to the best practices applied to this tourist activity, then going through sectorial coaching actions, to survey the existing potential and structure the offer . The program, which is expected to run until May, will be carried out by A2Z Tourism Consulting, which has extensive experience in contacting customers in this type of product and markets.
The first online session takes place on March 23, at 11 am, via ZOOM. This session of framing the project and the demand markets, which will be opened by João Fernandes, president of the Algarve Tourism Region, will also include contributions from Anabela Santos, from the Almargem Association, Luís Coelho, from A2Z
Tourism Consulting, and Inês Almeida Garrett, Dagmar Paul and João Rodeia, from Turismo de Portugal.
Given the limited number of places available for the sectoral coaching program, with a capacity for 20 accommodation units and 10 tourist entertainment companies, a pre-registration will be required, available until March 26th. Depending on the number of registrations received, the organization may have to apply some selection criteria, among them, the proximity of walking trails in the municipality, the size of the accommodation and the activity of the tourist animation company in Monchique. The registration form and detailed information about the shares are available on the Via Algarviana website,. The actions are part of the application “Revitalize Monchique – Tourism as a Catalyst”, funded by Turismo de Portugal, under the RegFin program.
