Angolan health units remain 2,225 - News



José Vieira da Cunha, quoted by the Angolan news agency Angop, was speaking at the closing session of the 1st International Congress of Medical Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine of Katyavala Bwila University, in the capital of the homonymous province, which gathered around 300 congressmen.

According to the Angolan official, Angola currently has 1,675 health posts in operation, among them 471 health centers, 24 of which are reference, 75 materno-infantile centers and 166 municipal hospitals, so the goal is to reach 3,900 health posts by 2022.

In an intervention essentially focused on the need to humanize health services and their proximity to communities, the Secretary indicated that government initiatives to improve health and service delivery go through the decentralization and local integration of the different sectors.

José Vieira da Cunha stressed that the Government of Luanda has prioritized reproductive, maternal, neonatal and child health care, family planning, prenatal care, childbirth and full immunization of children, as well as major endemic diseases such as tuberculosis, HIV / AIDS and malaria.
