Former Chelsea and Juventus coach Antonio Conte will be the next Inter Milan coach, the Italian Serie A football club announced today.
Antonio Conte, 49, will replace Italy's Luciano Spalletti, according to the team's announcement, in which Portuguese international João Mário and Cédric Soares play.
"It's going to start a new chapter in my life and I'm really looking forward to it. I chose Inter for the club it is, for the project and the ambition it has, "said Conte, quoted by his new team, vowing to put the Milan club" in its rightful place "at the top of Italian and European football.
Inter Milan did not announce the duration of the contract with Antonio Conte, however the press quoted by France-Presse news agency indicates that it will coach the team for three years and will earn 10 million euros per season, plus bonuses.
"I'm sure Antonio Conte is one of the best coaches today. I am convinced that it will help us achieve our goals: to make this club one of the best in the world, "said Steven Zhang, president of Inter Milan.
On Thursday, Inter Milan announced that Luciano Spalletti had ceased to be the coach of the club.
Luciano Spalleti has been in the last two seasons at Inter, finishing in both with the same classification in the championship (fourth place), the last qualifying position for the Champions League, but very far from the Juventus champion, in which the Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo and João Cancelo.
Spalletti, 60, leaves the Milan club without having won any trophies despite having several career titles, including two Russian champion titles in 2010 and 2012 at Zenit St. Petersburg and two Italian Cups , in 2007 and 2008, both at AS Roma.
