António Matos Chaves, an inescapable figure of the national motorsport, especially the Automobile Club of Portugal (ACP), where for many years he was a high leader, as well as one of the fundamental elements in the organization of Rally Portugal along with Alfredo César Torres, passed away today.
António Matos Chaves also played an important role in organizing the Grand Prix of Portugal F1, as well as representing Portugal for many years, with the International Automobile Federation (FIA), in the most diverse categories. He was the founder and president of ACP Motorsport, a position he left a few years ago to be with his family.
The wake is taking place today from 4 pm, in the Church of the Antas, in the city of Porto. The funeral will be held tomorrow (Wednesday), at 10:30 am, also at the Antas Church.
