Applications are open until March 8 for the Cultural Action Support Program (PAACA), aimed at supporting initiatives and projects by local / regional, non-professional associative cultural agents based in the Algarve.
“PAACA's main objectives are to support the development of cultural initiatives / projects promoted by entities from the non-professional cultural sector, in order to strengthen the local cultural fabric with artistic creation and circulation, at the same time that it stimulates and strengthens the relations of work, between cultural equipment and these agents, and helps to qualify the agents that make up the non-professional cultural sector in the Algarve ”, explains the regional director of Culture of the Algarve (DRCAlg), in a statement.
In analyzing the projects submitted, the entity maintains the following priority eligibility criteria: combating social exclusion and desertification in the interior of the Algarve; strengthening the role of arts and culture in raising awareness of issues such as respect for human rights, equality and non-discrimination, the integration of Roma communities, the promotion of youth participation and the challenges posed by migration and socio-territorial integration; education for culture and the arts; the enhancement of the intangible heritage of the Algarve and the preservation of traditions, memories and identity, including the revitalization of historic centers and centers; cultural innovation; multidisciplinary and multicultural projects.
In addition to these, carried over from the last edition, this year the program introduces as a new theme to address domestic violence, as this is “one of the great social dramas we face today, in which art can play an important role as attention and awareness ”and that DRCAlg aims to stimulate.
Due to the situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, for the year 2021 and on an extraordinary basis, expenses arising from wages, allocated to cultural actions, duly justified, are eligible under the DRCAlg Cultural Action Support Program. up to 15% of the total support granted.
Cultural agents can also focus their projects on the component of creation or presentation on digital platforms, if the conditions imposed by the pandemic situation continue over time, continuing to hinder face-to-face presentations and contact with the public.
Cultural associations in the Algarve can submit their applications to PAACA until March 8, 2021.
