If you are 18, you are available to travel for about a month and you are curious about knowing Europe this initiative is for you. The European Commission will offer Interrail passes to thousands of young people aged 18 as part of the "DiscoverEU" program. Following the initiative launched last year, Brussels will once again give young Europeans the opportunity to grab the backpack with one more contest. Interested young people can apply until the 16th of March.
Under this European Union (EU) initiative, young people may travel individually or as part of a group of up to five people. They can get in touch with other participants and join them to do some or all of the trip. The DiscoverEU group on Facebook is a good platform for this. As a general rule, participants will travel by train. However, in order to ensure wide access throughout the continent, participants may, in special cases, use alternative modes of transport, such as bus or ferry, or, exceptionally, the airplane.
In order to participate, you must have been born between 2 July 2000 (inclusive) and 1 July 2001 (inclusive), have the nationality of one of the Member States of the European Union at the time of the decision to award travel passes and please indicate the citizen's card or passport number on the online application form. All you have to do is answer a series of questions, including a tie-breaker question. If you are selected or selected, you can travel for a minimum of one day and a maximum of 30 days, which should take place between August 1, 2019 and January 31, 2020. While traveling, you should share stories on social networks, with the #discoverEU hashtag.
