The president of the Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP) today praised the response given by football to the covid-19 pandemic, pointing as a major goal for 2021 the return of fans to the stadiums.
“Never will the end of a year be so celebrated as this, and with it will hope for goodbye to a 2020 that will be to remember everyone at the levels, and not for the best reasons. It is often said that it is in the worst hours that one sees who has the ability to turn things around, and then Football gave a complete response, by accepting the constraints and realizing that only with a lot of resilience would it be possible to carry out the goals ”, He highlighted in a post on his Facebook social network account.
Pedro Proença considered that the year that ends today will, in the sporting plan, be “marked by the silence of the chants, by the coldness of the naked stands and the absence of the true soul” of football, the fans.
“With 2021 new hopes come and a vaccine that will certainly immunize most of the population. A lengthy process, but one that opens the door to anything that might look more like normality. And that necessarily implies the return of the public to the stadiums, a goal that we have not forgotten and which is the main goal of the Liga Portugal for 2021! ”, He stressed.
For the LPFP president, it is the clubs, their coaches and players who feel, “more than anyone, the absence of human warmth”.
"May this be the kick-off for a new year, with new things and, yes, different for the better", he concluded.
