The wind, or lack thereof, did not help start the second race of the Atlantis Cup 2019 in Ponta Delgada. The start was delayed at 10:23 am, with the wind blowing from the northeast at a speed of 4 to 5 knots.
The 'Hexentric' sailboat was back at the fastest start, having been the first to round the clearing buoy, immediately lifting the balloon.
The buoy was then rounded by the sailboats “Soraya”, “Windsurf”, “Phileas Fogg III” and “Celtic Dream”.
The Atlantis Cup fleet, Regatta da Autonomia, currently composed of 18 sailboats, is ahead of a 92 nautical mile take-off between the islands of São Miguel and Terceira.
The 2019 edition of the Autonomy Regatta has a total of 217 nautical miles, linking the islands of Santa Maria, São Miguel, Terceira and Faial.
The Atlantis Cup, Autonomy Regatta 2019, has the High Sponsorship of the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
