The preliminary injunction issued by the former president of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth (IPDJ), Augusto Baganha, to challenge the recent dismissal of the Secretary of State for Youth and Sports (SEJD), João Paulo Rebelo, was yesterday accepted by a court and thus suspended the functions of the new Board of Directors of IPDJ, appointed by Rebelo. The news is being advanced by the newspaper "Record".
Rebelo decided to exonerate the president (Baganha) and a member of the IPDJ, about a year after the end of their respective mandates and the holding of legislative elections, invoking "political motives" and a "new strategic orientation" of IPDJ. But Baganha did not comply with the decision and moved forward with the injunction that now produces effects, paralyzing the new direction of the IPDJ.
Despite the "political motives" and the "new strategic orientation", Rebelo again nominated two members of the previous IPDJ Board of Directors, the members Vítor Pataco and Carlos Pereira. In the case of Pataco, the SEJD promoted him to the presidency of the IPDJ, which was challenged by Baganha, accusing Pataco of having favored Sport Lisboa and Benfica by holding a 10-month process as a vowel.
In addition to Pataco and Pereira, the SEJD appointed as members Sónia Paixão (PS militant) and Sílvia Vermelho (former advisor to the SEJD). By the decision of yesterday of the court, they are all suspended of functions. And Baganha will be able to resume the presidency of the IPDJ, until there is a definitive decision of justice.
