The Left / Algarve Block today protested against the possibility of relocating the RTP / Algarve delegation to the Penha campus of the University of Algarve in Faro.
"The possible relocation of the delegation to a place that RTP does not own will reduce technical capacities and working conditions for RTP / Algarve employees, because the intended alternative does not have adequate structures for the exercise of this type of communication, even with a possible investment in that space, which will never be less than half a million euros, "said the BE, in a statement.
An entourage of the party, with the presence of its elected deputy, João Vasconcelos, met with the Workers' Commission of RTP, where he obtained the information.
For BE, the future of the public television and radio delegation in Faro, currently in the Senhora da Saúde area, "will be compromised" and the situation could lead to its "progressive extinction," which the party rejects "on the surface."
The blocs discuss the motivation for the exit of RTP from its current space, namely due to the possible sale of the land where the building is located.
"Since RTP is the landowner and the entire adjacent area, what is the destiny of this huge space? Are real estate motivations with a huge financial fit, to the detriment of a television of proximity and once again, with the consequent loss of importance of the Algarve? ", Asks the BE.
On May 20, the deputy of the BE elected by the Algarve, João Vasconcelos, and other party leaders will visit the premises, where they will meet with the workers and the chairman of the RTP board of directors.
