The project "Travel in My Land", scheduled for Sunday, June 2, promises a bike ride with staged readings in the landscape of the Algarve windward, between the Hermitage of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the Fortress of Sagres.
The initiative, integrated in the DiVaM – Dynamization and Valorization of Monuments, appropriates the title of the book of the Portuguese writer Almeida Garrett and consists of a bicycle tour and the presentation and staging of small stories reinterpreted on the different cultures – Greek, Roman, Arabic , Christian – in three places.
The meeting point will be at the Hermitage of Our Lady of Guadalupe, at 9:30 am, a monument where the first staged reading begins, with a stop at Mãe d'Água (Vila do Bispo) at 11:15, where made the second reading.
The arrival at the fortress of Sagres, where the third reading is held, is scheduled for 13:30.
In each reading, except for the first one, participants will have water, a piece of fruit and a small snack, and at the end of the course, in the Fortress of Sagres, there will be a picnic.
The initiative counts on Helena Flor Dias, Joana Melo and Maria da Conceição Gonçalves (staged readings) and Susana de Medeiros and Reinhold Spielberger (guides).
The tour lasts about four and a half hours and travels about 17 kilometers. "Bring your bike, helmet, clothes, comfortable shoes and water," the organization recommends.
