Intended to promote books and encourage reading habits, the contest, which runs in the 33rd edition, continues until the 19th of this month, with the presence of dozens of publishers, hundreds of books "for all tastes" and a cultural program with initiatives to honor the writer Fernando Namora.
"We highlight the neorealist writers who played an important social and political role during fascism and pay tribute to Fernando Namora, drawing attention to the importance of these writers in the fight against fascism," explained Lusa news agency today. of Grândola, António Figueira Mendes.
The centenary of the birth of Fernando Namora will be marked with a symposium on "Retalhos da Vida de Um Escritor", on the 12th of this month, which will have as guests José Manuel Mendes, president of the Portuguese Writers Association, and Fernando Teixeira Batista , author of the first doctoral thesis on the writer.
After the colloquium, the municipality of Grândola holds a "Namoriano Snack", which will offer participants, upon prior registration, "a menu created from references found in the author's work".
