Finally, the first images of "AD Astra", the long awaited sci-fi futuristic epic James Gray.
The director has a lot of fans thanks to cult titles like "Live and Die in Little Odessa," "We Control the Night," "Double Love," "The Emigrant," and "The Lost City of Z," but works for the first time in a great production and with stars of the size of Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones.
Pitt plays an astronaut sent to the confines of the solar system to unravel a mystery that threatens Earth's survival and answers to the disappearance 16 years before his father (role of Tommy Lee Jones), during a mission to look for advanced alien life. It is a journey that will reveal secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.
In tones of "The Heart of Darkness," Joseph Conrad's book that inspired Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse Now" (1979), the title of the movie, which is in Latin, means "To the Stars."
Also in the cast are Liv Tyler, Donald Sutherland and Ruth Negga.
"Ad Astra" premieres on September 19, which will give it more visibility into the awards season, where Brad Pitt, judged by the reports of the Cannes Film Festival, is expected to have a strong presence also because of "Once Upon a Time in … Hollywood "by Quentin Tarantino.
