A seminar on horticulture presented by a Brazilian specialist will take place on Monday, 13 at 6:30 p.m., in the green auditorium of building 8 of the Gambelas campus of the University of the Algarve.
"Strategies for maintaining Florida's citrus production under high HLB incidence" is the theme of the seminar, included in the Master of Horticulture, but open to the public.
The event is presented by Rhuanito Ferrarezi, professor of Citriculture at the University of Florida (United States).
"Florida has a high incidence rate of huanglongbing (HLB), which led to a strong reduction in citrus production in that state," explains the seminar organization.
The specialist will address the situation of HLB in Florida, focusing on the production of table fruits, and showing their research projects to solve the problem.
Ferrarezi will divide the presentation into strategies focused on the host (plant), vector (psyllid) and bacteria.
The seminar will be in Portuguese, with slides in English, lasting one hour. The entrance is free.
