The purpose of this meeting is to consolidate the creation of a European Route of Coffees with History and its integration into the new itinerary of the Council of Europe. The European Coffee Day was also established, in addition to the creation of materials and forms of dissemination, namely the European passport of this network.
It should be noted that, in addition to the Panties, they are members of the European Association of Cafes with History Les Deux Magots of Paris, the L'Opera of Barcelona, the Kipos from Chania, O Central of Budapest, the La Calcina of Venice or the Majestic Porto, among others.
The Café Calcinha was, during the last century, and until today, a socio-cultural landmark of the local population and of all visitors, being the only meeting space in the history of the city, which gave it the privilege of being the most emblematic establishment and referenced in local history.
It was classified as Property of Municipal Interest in 2012 and, in 2014, acquired by the Autarchy. In the year 2017 the rehabilitation project was inaugurated, bringing to the public a rejuvenated space but always with the weight of the history that so well characterizes it.
