In addition to the Minho Film Commission, other similar structures, such as Lisbon, Porto, Algarve, Alentejo and Ribatejo, Centro, Azores or Madeira, can be found on the ICA website.
Rui Bandeira Ramos explained that "the work of setting up the Minho Film Commission was initiated five years ago," and was responsible, in that period, "for the exhibition, in the territory of a set of films," pointing to the example "Os Maias" of João Botelho.
"With this new dynamic we have the capacity and the conditions to have a strategy. […] We will present ourselves already constituted and prepared to be able to respond to the diverse requests that have arisen ", reinforced.
The Minho Film Commission covers a total of 24 municipalities, aiming to attract international cinematographic productions to the territory.
The structure dynamized by the Glass Eye Cinematographic Association, based in Guimarães, is part of the Marketing, Communication and Internationalization anchor project of the Collective Efficiency Strategy (EEC) PROVERE Minho Innovation, approved by the North 2020 community program.
This EEC is part of the Minho Innovation Consortium that includes the three Intermunicipal Communities of Alto Minho, Cávado and Ave.
The mission of the new structure is to be present "in the main international markets", such as Berlin, Cannes, Busan and São Paulo, in collaboration with ICA.
The "promotion of the main actors of international production, associate conditions for the application of the Fund for support to Tourism, Cinema and Audiovisual, with a capital of 50 million euros and organize international visits to explore the territory" are other bets of the new structure.
The Minho Film Commission also intends to "collect, process, organize and disseminate aerial photography and characteristic elements of the territory, through a video and static image visualization website, organize and structure the territory by fomenting the creation of Film Offices ( autonomous bodies) through training and capacity-building actions ".
