In the period from January to November 2020, 158,702 new vehicles were put into circulation, representing a year-on-year decrease of 35.3 percent.
By categories and types of vehicles, it was observed that in the eleventh month of 2020, 11,826 new light passenger cars were registered in Portugal, that is, 27.9 percent less than in the same month of the previous year. From January to November, passenger car registrations totaled 131,165 units, which translated into a negative variation of 36.4 percent compared to the same period in 2019.
As for the category of light goods vehicles, in November 2020, it registered an unfavorable evolution, having decreased 1.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, standing at 2,801 registered units. In cumulative terms, in the eleven months of 2020, the market reached 23,905 units, which represented a drop of 29.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
With regard to the category of heavy vehicles, which includes the types of passengers and goods, in November 2020 there was an increase of 17.5 percent in relation to the same month of the previous year, with 342 vehicles being sold this category. From January to November 2020 enrollments totaled 3,632 units, which represented a market drop of 29.4 percent compared to the same period in 2019.
