Sailor Carolina João keeps Portugal in the race for Tokyo 2020 in the ILCA 6 class, after the second day of the European Olympic qualification taking place in Vilamoura, occupying one of the two available places.
Carolina João is the best Portuguese, in 29th place, followed by Mafalda Pires de Lima (42nd), Leonor Dutra (83rd) and Federica Franchi (86th), with a total of 89 sailors.
The other women's spot for Tokyo remains in the hands of Israeli sailor Shai Kakon, who despite being one of the youngest athletes in the race continues to register a good performance, maintaining the 5th place in the overall classification.
Spaniard Joel Rodriguez Perez and Belgian William De Smet also continue to position themselves as the favorites to win the two Olympic places available in the ILCA 7 class.
The European qualification for Tokyo will take place until Saturday in the waters of Vilamoura, in a race that gathers almost 230 sailors, coming from 44 countries.
