The CDS-PP Algarve district political commission considered the controversial campaign on the Faro Airport Facebook page an invitation to escape the already suspended “Algarve confusion” as a “bombing” to the region's interests.
“What is at stake is an attack on the economic interests of the region and on the image and dignity of the Algarve. In this way a “certificate of incompetence” was issued to all those who engage in this activity which, it should be stressed, greatly contributes to Regional development and national GDP ”, considers the structure led by José Pedro Caçorino.
The campaign, which advertised the fate of Marseilles (France) with its relocation to the Algarve, was the target of criticism from Algarvian citizens and politicians and also from the government, eventually being withdrawn.
The advertising agency Brandworkers eventually took "full responsibility" for the ad, revealing that it had been "previously rejected by the ANA Faro Airport team".
“Considering that Faro International Airport is a reference partner for tourism in the Algarve, inviting people to choose another destination for their holidays can only be the result of an 'air decision' by those who produced it and authorized it” , add the centrists.
The CDS-PP welcomes the withdrawal of the advertising campaign in question, but requires that responsibilities be clarified.
