The Vila Nova de Gaia city council today clarified that it has decided not to hold the Gaia Street Stage, which was part of the seventh stage of the World Rally Championship (WRC), due to "lack of financial participation."

The autarchy, led by the PS executive of Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues and in which he is alderman of Sports José Guilherme Aguiar, added that "this delay resulted in the fact that only this week" has been given "knowledge – not yet officialized – that the would be substantially lower than initially expected ".
"It would require a financial effort of the municipality in the order of 600 thousand euros," concludes the Town Hall of Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto district.
In addition to the "financial weight", the municipality complains of a "delay" that "represented constraints related to administrative matters and procedures".
"Questions and procedures which, at the moment, would not be exceedable in view of the legislation in force, namely the Public Procurement Code, thereby undermining the security and other conditions imposed by the organization of the test" in the reply sent to Lusa.
