The closing party of the European Sport Week, held on Sunday in Portimão, gathered around 1500 participants, who enjoyed 25 sports in an open-air mega-event open to all ages.
The initiative was organized by the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ) and the municipality of Portimão, in partnership with the sport associations, clubs and sports associations of the Algarve.
The strength of the sport, especially in the Algarve, was also noted by the presence of over 70 guests, including Olympic athletes, world and European champions, national and regional champions, not forgetting the coaches and many club leaders, associations and federations that wanted to be present and leave their testimony under the motto 'BEACTIVE'.
As part of the event, another stage of the Algarve March and Race Regional Calendar was held, which, in partnership with the Alzheimer Association of Portugal, brought together about a thousand participants.
Joana Schenker and Luís Costa, two great Algarve champions, were the athletes' spokesmen and left messages alongside IPDJ regional director Custódio Moreno, IPDJ president Vítor Pataco and Portimão Mayor Isilda Gomes , who closed the welcome session.
