Coach Sérgio Vieira, who led Farense on his way back to the first league after 18 years of absence, will remain in charge of the Algarve for another three years.
"Sporting Clube Farense announces that it reached, on May 19, 2020, an agreement to renew the contract with the coach Sérgio Vieira for another three years, reinforcing the confidence placed at the beginning of the 19/20 season", revealed the Faro club, in a statement released on Facebook late Wednesday night.
Highlighting Sérgio Vieira's “competence, seriousness and professionalism”, Farense points out that the technician “knew how to interpret the values and greatness” of the institution.
"This is, without a doubt, the most desired outcome in the planning and preparation of the new season", reinforces the club of the Algarve capital.
The coach, 37, also expressed his satisfaction after prolonging the union with Farense.
“This renewal is a reflection of a deep symbiosis of values, goals and ambitions to elevate the club to the greatness that is conducive to it,” he said, underlining “the affection, gratitude and commitment” he feels for the club, fans and the region.
“It was never just the victories, but the way we won. It will never be just the conquests, but the way to achieve them ”, he concluded.
The Liga Portugal announced, on May 5, the promotion of Nacional and Farense, first and second classified in the II League, canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
