Comic Book Show runs until March

The 14th edition of BDTECA – Odemira's Comic Book Show will be held until March, at José Saramago Municipal Library, in an initiative promoted by the local municipality, in partnership with Sopa dos Artistas – Local Association of Plastic Artists.

BDTECA integrates various actions for the general public and schools, including exhibitions, workshops and the 14th National Odemira Comic Book Contest, which marks the beginning of the activities.

The initiative aims to spread this artistic genre among youth and adult audiences, stimulate creativity and affirm Odemira as one of the main centers of comic book development in the region.

The exhibition "Strips of BD – Segura Net" will take place in the library of the state of São Paulo between January 18 and February 7.

In the context of the Safe Internet Day, which will be celebrated at the beginning of February, the aim is to alert BD about the dangers of the Internet – cyberbullying in social networks, plagiarism, data protection, among others.

The exhibition is provided by SeguraNet and will be displayed in school libraries during the month of February.

Between February 8 and March 5, will take place the illustration exhibition «The Elephant's Journey», by João Amaral.

In the year that marks the 20th anniversary of the José Saramago Municipal Library and intends to honor its patron and his work, the commemorations begin with the exhibition and presentation of the illustrated book, “The Elephant's Journey”, by João Amaral , an adaptation of the namesake work of José Saramago.

The work will be presented to the public on February 21, at 10:30 am, at the Municipal Library.

The ComEdu: Comics for Education comics exhibition will be on show at Dr. Manuel Candeias Gonçalves Secondary School, from February 10th to March 7th.

The show stems from a project that unites three countries – Estonia, Latvia and Portugal – and focuses on the use of comics as a tool in non-formal education among young and young adults. This project is co-financed by Rota Jovem and supported by the Erasmus + and Kuš! Komikss (Latvia).

On March 6th, at 10:00 am, there will be the illustration workshop «Your Site», by Daniela Viçoso, Amanda Baeza, João Carola and Duarte Maria, addressed to secondary school students.

The group promotes the next day, on March 7, at 14:00, the workshop of "Comics for people who think they can not draw", addressed to the general public.

Also on March 7, at 17:00, will be opened the exhibition of works and announcement of the winners of the National Comic Book Contest. The show will be on display until March 20th.
