A study by a team of researchers from the United States was published in the journal Science.
A study recently published in the scientific journal Science, published in news from Record TV Europa, reveals that Covid-19 disease is expected to be similar to the common flu within 10 years.
According to the specialists responsible for the investigation, although SARS-CoV-2 will not disappear, the disease caused by it will not be as deadly as it is at this stage of the pandemic and only children should present the symptoms we know today, reports the news Record TV Europa, also saying that researchers admit that by the time the majority of the population is vaccinated, the genetic material of the pathogen should be attenuated and produce an asymptomatic infection for adults.
"Our model suggests that this transformation will take between one and ten years," explained researcher and study author Jennie Lavine of Emory University in the United States, in statements to the newspaper El País, referring to the mathematical model that reproduces the spread of the virus .
According to the same study, the exact period of transformation of the virus will be directly dependent on the speed of propagation of the new coronavirus, as well as the speed of vaccination of the population; being that, the time of immunization after being contracted the virus or after receiving the vaccine are other of the decisive factors.
Jennie Lavine also says that Covid-19 will not disappear, but that it will only cause occasional outbreaks of low viral load.
On the other hand, in a news published in diariOnline South Region, Andrea Ammon, director of ECDC – European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, pointed out yesterday that the coronavirus may continue to circulate in the world, despite the development of the vaccination process, and may even convert an endemic disease.
