Cyclist Maria Martins was 26th classified in the classic Brabantse Pijl


The Portuguese cyclist Maria Martins (Sopela Women's) was 26th classified in the classic Brabantse Pijl, in Gooik, Belgium, won the 'sprint' by the Belgian Sofie de Vuyst (Parkhotel Valkenburg).

Vuyst, 32, completed the 136.7 kilometer lead in 3: 28.56 hours, beating Marta Cavalli (second-placed Valcar Cylance) and third-seeded Coryn Rivera (Sunweb).

Maria Martins, 19, made only the second day of the international road calendar in 2019, after 12th place in the Tour of the Valencian Community in February and reached 5.37 minutes of the winner in the 26th place .

The Portuguese rider was ranked 14th overall in the omnium race at the track cycling World Championships in March after being crowned national champion of the various track specialties in January.

Outside the international calendar, Martins shone in the Villa de Noja Trophy, the third round of the Spanish Cycling Cup, when he won the race on 7 April.
