The nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were announced this Tuesday.
Def Leppard, Devo, Janet Jackson, John Prine, Kraftwerk, LL Cool J, MC5, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Roxy Music, Todd Rundgren, Rufus and Chaka Khan and The Zombies are nominated to enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Winners will be announced in December.
Roxy Music, Def Leppard, Devo, Todd Rundgren and John Prine are nominated for the first time. Stevie Nicks also debuts in the nominations, but solo – the musician has already entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as lead singer of Fleetwood Mac.
Nicks began his solo career in 1981, while still a member of Fleetwood Mac, whose album "Rumors" was among the 50 best selling of all time. Since then, he has released eight studio albums.
The nomination for the prestigious Hall of Fame, which is based in Cleveland, Ohio, is only for artists and bands who have released their first commercial album for at least 25 years.
The "sanctuary" of rock culture consults about 1000 historians and music industry participants to select the candidates.
The voting is public and runs on the official Rock Hall website.
